Institute Benjamenta, or This Dream People Call Human Life

Director: Stephen and Timothy Quay
Year Released: 1995
Rating: 0.0

It's easy to see how the Quays went wrong here: while their forte is making short, atmospheric stop-motion films doing most of the work themselves with no actors and lots of puppets, here they're trying to pull off an Eraserheadesque full-length feature with actors and a crew and little stop-motion. The result is a massive disaster that takes itself too seriously (the pompous voice-over only makes matters worse) and never develops into an actual film.
