B-

Alita: Battle Angel (Rodriguez)

C+

Replicas (Nachmanoff)
The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind (Ejiofor)

C

Avengers: Endgame (The Russos) [* Bloated to no end and extremely long ... and as I predicted after seeing Infinity War, there's some stupid gimmick to "fix everything" that defies any kind of logic even on its own dumb level. It does reward those of us that actually watched the individual Marvel movies, but if you cried at the ending I have nothing to say to you. (You realize that can probably be "altered" too, correct?) Thor.. easy on the brews.]
How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World (DeBlois)
The Dirt (Tremaine)
Triple Frontier (Chandor)
Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile (Berlinger) [* Efron won't get Academy Award attention for this, but he should. The story, presented here, keeps Bundy's sickness well in the background, funneling the narrative through Collins' point-of-view ... but she's just not interesting.]

C-

Velvet Buzzsaw (Gilroy)
The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part (Mitchell)
The Spy Who Fell to Earth (Meadmore)
High Flying Bird (Soderbergh)
The Highwaymen (Hancock)

D+

The Last Summer (Bindley) [* So this isn't American Graffiti or even American Pie but can we talk about how great the storyline is with the two gawky nerds who get mistaken for traders at the CBOE and date older women? Because that section is wholesome and good.]
Captain Marvel (Boden and Fleck)

D

Polar (Ã…kerlund)
Fighting With My Family (Merchant) [* WWE by way of Disney Channel-level plotting. So wait: if Ricky can't do much good without Stephen, and vice versa, why not ... put the band back together? No?]
Her Smell (Perry)
Close (Jewson)
Fyre (Smith)
Paddleton (Lehmann)

D-

Glass (Shyamalan) [* Yikes. Is it just me or did it look like Ana Taylor-Joy was fighting back laughter at the very end?]
IO (Helpert)
The Silence (Leonetti) [* A knock off of a knock off of a knock off, et cetera.]
Grass (Hong) [* Is it possible to get worse as a filmmaker as you age? Because Hong's making the case.]
Unicorn Store (Larson) [* Field of Dreams meets Garden State. So if you liked them, have a blast.]

F

The Last Laugh (Pritikin)
