Honor Society

Rating: 1.0

Cocksure high school senior Honor Rose (Angourie Rice) finds out from her shady guidance counselor Mr. Calvin (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) that's she's one of four students he's considering recommending to the admissions board of Harvard University - her "dream school" - so she sets out to sabotage the other three: nerdy Michael (Gaten Matarazzo), introverted Kennedy (Amy Keum) and closeted lacrosse star Travis (Armani Jackson).  It plays up the whole condescending/preachy attitude Gen Z is unfortunately well-known for which is immediately irritating - Rice's character constantly breaks the fourth wall to show off how clever she thinks she is, and she's regularly rewarded for her sociopathic behavior, until she's finally one-upped by someone who's been (supposedly) tracking her every move.  Ms. Rice is a fine actress but she's not quite Alicia Silverstone; there is no respectable academic institution in the United States that would keep Mintz-Plasse's bass-playing groomer employed for long.
