Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard

Director: Patrick Hughes
Year Released: 2021
Rating: 0.0

Disgraced bodyguard Michael Bryce (Ryan Reynolds) - he had his license pulled due to events in the first movie - tries to "find peace and tranquility" on vacation, but gets pulled into the action by Sonia (Salma Hayek), the wife of his old frenemy Darius (Samuel L. Jackson), who's been kidnapped - elsewhere, Greek shipping magnate Aristotle (Antonio Banderas) wants to inject a virus into Europe's "data junction."  I'm actually a little impressed how, despite a solid cast, the screenwriters did not include one original idea: it's scene after scene of all the things you've seen done to death, and to cover up any sort of plot holes they either turn to car chases or things blowing up ... or both.  When your idea of humor is Hayek cursing in Spanglish - or detailing how Bryce's mom was accidentally killed while he was ordering gelato - you should probably step away from the keyboard.
