Solo: A Star Wars Story

Director: Ron Howard
Year Released: 2018
Rating: 2.0

The prequel cash-grab continues (even though it lost money): Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich), before being taken out by Adam Sackler (spoiler?), meets life-long pal Chewbacca and gambling addict Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover) and gets wrapped up in a plot to steal some rare fuel all in order to get back to the lady he lost (Emilia Clarke). As I said before, George Lucas did the 'heavy lifting' of creating these characters in the first place, so it's Plug & Play, cinema-style: the plot barely registers although there are big explosions and chases and tentacle monsters leading up to what could be future installments (imagination stopped when George walked away). Ehrenreich does his damnedest to pay respect to Harrison Ford's iconic character (none of this is his fault, in other words) and there's some fan service (hey, Darth Maul!) to keep the devotees placated.
