Theresa (Kirsten Dunst), who works at a marijuana dispensary, gives her dying mother a poisoned joint to assist her in passing away and later gives a laced batch to young Johnny (Jack Kilmer) when it should have gone to elderly Ed (Steph DuVall) ... and then starts using the stuff herself, which drives her bonkers (she really, really likes the forest). The Mulleavy sisters, who are better known for their (I'm told very good) clothing brand Rodarte, decided to try out the film world, and while they do have a nice sense of color and composition, they don't know much about story construction or pacing or character development or dialogue (at least judging by this terrible debut): it's pretty, but it's also empty and a bit of a yawn. You can have Dunst dance around redwood trees all you like - or even float to the sky like the Virgin Mary - and jazz up the frame with filters and flickers, but you ain't bein' poetic, you just bein' silly.
