Gun Crazy

Director:  Joseph H. Lewis
Year Released:  1950
Rating:  3.0

Top-shelf B movie, made years before Bonnie and Clyde (which it's frequently compared to) and a whole lot better, since Lewis actually takes time to develop his characters - especially antihero John Dall, who has been obsessed with guns since he was a kid (and has grown up to be a marksman). He meets up with an equally skilled circus performer, and the two join forces to rob banks. Some hokey dialogue and questionable logic keep me from thinking it a hallmark of the medium, but it's still taut, wonderfully directed and (most importantly) interesting.
