Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie

Director: Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim
Year Released: 2012
Rating: 1.0

Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim, best known for their surreal, intentionally tacky TV shows on Adult Swim (The Cartoon Network) try to turn their schtick into a feature length and, as expected, the anti-humor can't be sustained for that duration. The threadbare plot - of Tim and Eric trying to recoup a billion bucks they wasted making a feature for a Hollywood tycoon (Robert Loggia) by renovating a shopping mall (??) - allows for a sporadic funny moment here and there, but as a rule, sketch comedy teams only work best in 2-3 minute bits, and not even Bob and David of Mr. Show or The Kids in the Hall could make it work (though, as time has passed, Tom Green's absurd Freddy Got Fingered almost seems to improve with age). Still, fans of the program might want to see the R-rated stuff they can come up with, and the grotesque love-making scene (between Tim and Twink Caplan) coupled with Ray Wise's "healing" Eric should delight those with a penchant for the revolting.
