Ghoulies

Director:  Luca Bercovici
Year Released:  1985
Rating:  0.0

Pathetic excuse for gothic horror has a (much older) college student becoming possessed with the 'dark forces' and summoning ugly little hand puppets in his basement to terrorize his friends and neighbors; eventually he meets his comeuppance when his father (?) is resurrected as well. Tacky and incoherent, it skillfully avoids being scary or memorable, and the little monsters look like they were made by elementary school children in art class. It was followed by countless sequels, which can only mean that people are truly starved for movies they can laugh at while stoned.
