Gai Savoir, Le

Director:  Jean-Luc Godard
Year Released:  1969
Rating:  1.0

Godard throws Juliet Berto and Jean-Pierre Léaud in front of a black screen and has them mutter his disconnected, occasionally witty observations about Capitalism and Hating The Man, sporadically throwing in his usual assortment of stock footage and defaced cartoons. Sometimes, he has them babbling or spelling out words (it is, after all, about the 'joy of learning'). It's intended as a call-to-arms of sorts, but it just makes me want to go shopping. Ah, the joy of spending!
