For being a 'classic comedy' about the 'war of the sexes,' this comes across as heavy-handed. Chemistry exists between Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy, who play lawyers working against each other in a case involving a jealous wife who shoots her philandering husband (Hepburn defends the wife, Tracy the husband), but there's a whole lot of unrealistic stuff going on in this one which makes me question the picture's credibility (the jury's verdict will raise a few eyebrows, considering it's never clear why things turn out the way they do). Every single piece of dialogue has something to do with gender stereotypes and the film's theme which grows repetitious - we know the film is about patriarchy's iron grip on society.
