Had trouble finding the quality in this rambling Hawks picture, which seems almost too lackadaisical for its own good, setting up predictable plot point after predictable plot point, and taking forever to get to the place I figured it would go. There's little chemistry between Cary Grant and his female counterpart (Jean Arthur) and their relationship is almost unnecessary: the real love affair is between Grant and his plane (Rita Hayworth's presence is also wasted; she's merely an accessory). Admiration for Hawks' equally fatuous Rio Bravo and this picture go almost hand-in-hand; since I disliked that picture intensely, it was inevitable this would fail to warrant admiration.
