The Nutty Professor

Director: Jerry Lewis
Year Released: 1963
Rating: 2.5

Jerry Lewis is an acquired taste, and though I'm not really a supporter of his, this is a half-decent effort. Results vary per person ... you are either won over by his yuk-yuk slapstick or it irritates you to no end; I found it charming and clever at first but felt it ran out of ideas around the one-hour mark (only to regain momentum for the shockingly effective ending). The lead female's main role is to stare, pucker her lips and look pretty (and, of course, fawn all over Jerry in his many forms).
