How to Get Ahead in Advertising
Director: Bruce Robinson
Year Released: 1989
Rating: 2.0
Grant is a one-man show in this criticism of the soul-sucking world of advertising; the proverbial 'devil on the shoulder' takes the form of a boil that starts to look like him and take over his life. Goes completely overboard: there isn't an ounce of restraint in this lashing tirade, and the only saving grace comes from the main performance and not from the screenplay, which takes one pretty standard idea and abuses it thoroughly. Although it is a satire, I couldn't help but wonder why nobody put the Grant character in an institution. Best line: "I am an expert in tits and mustard."
