I.K.U.

Director: Shu Lea Cheang
Year Released: 2000
Rating: 0.0

It's the year 2030 (which is only four years away from the time I'm writing this), and the Genom Corporation has created a special chip called "I.K.U." that's used to "decode ecstasy data" and developed the human-like "Reiko" (played by multiple Japanese "adult" actresses) to copulate with the public and record her interactions (or something to that effect - the on-screen instructions are barely understandable).  This "futuristic porno" wasn't that well-received upon release and there isn't a discernible narrative to follow so it's not as much a "feature" (there's more moaning and groaning than dialogue) as it is a visual experiment, and to that end it's a trippy viewing, with plenty of nudity, oral sex and computer-generated footage of penises thrusting inside of digital vaginas.  Considering there are companies working on building "pleasure robots," it seems quite prescient for being a quarter of a century old, and it's not unthinkable that "escorts" of the future might not be real women at all.  I'm secretly hoping they'll be able to do my taxes.
