Former athlete-turned-vagrant Ion (Gabriel Spahiu) roams around the city of Cluj swiping bits of trash and begging for food and money, but when bailiff Orsolya (Eszter Tompa) tells him he's being evicted from the space he's been sleeping in he commits suicide (with a wire he attached to a radiator) which traumatizes Orsolya, who then cheats on her husband with a loquacious student. Considering Jude's typically known for making experimental and provocative films, this is a relatively restrained feature, and while it does bring up some political topics (such as the ongoing invasion of Ukraine by Russia as well as tensions between Romania and its neighbor Hungary), it's also repetitive, as Orsolya keeps telling the same story to everyone near her. Whining about urban development (the movie concludes with several shots of new apartment complexes and other buildings under construction) is not unique to Eastern Europe: in the United States, for example, predatory investment firm Goldman Sachs is quite busy gobbling up real estate presumably to make it more difficult for "regular people" to afford a place to live.
