28 Years Later: The Bone Temple

Director: Nia DaCosta
Year Released: 2026
Rating: 2.0

Just a few days after 2025's 28 Years Later wrapped, filming began on this companion piece, which involves iodine-stained Dr. Ian Kelson (Ralph Fiennes) attempting to "cure" alpha-zombie Samson (Chi Lewis-Parry) with a combination of medicines while, elsewhere in the ravaged U.K., teenager Spike (Alfie Williams) joins Sir Lord Jimmy Crystal (Jack O'Connell), an avowed Satanist, and his deranged cult as they carve up innocent people.  Although the movie feels like a bit of an afterthought and the material involving the Jimmies is merely in there for the gore factor, the aspects pertaining to Kelson trying to "fix" the "undead problem" using science is clever and an angle worthy of further exploration - it simply doesn't get enough time here.  Disappointingly, it veers entirely too close to nihilism for personal comfort but Ralph rocking out to Iron Maiden is both wacky and kind of fun ... not unlike his dancing to "Emotional Rescue" by the Stones in another film.
