We Bury the Dead

Those "great minds" in the U.S. government detonated an "experimental weapon" near Tasmania that either wiped out the residents or turned a couple of them into "zombies" (that may or may not wake up), so American physical therapist Ava (Daisy Ridley) flies there to search for her husband Mitch (Matt Whelan), volunteers to drag the corpses out of their residences with local Clay (Brenton Thwaites) and then the two of them steal a Ducati and try to sneak down to Woodbridge where Mitch was staying. The makeup and prosthetics used for the victims is pleasingly icky, although it offers no new innovations for the genre, it's so full of flashbacks (to Ava's early days with Mitch) it forgets it's supposed to be a horror movie and Ridley's character has very few lines of real dialogue. Instead of sending the audience out with something to thing about, the third act is anti-climactic: Ava finds her dead hubby (and the woman he was having an affair with), she reunites with Clay and then they find a healthy baby to presumably raise together.
