Oh. What. Fun. (2025) review

Feeling neglected by her husband Nick (Denis Leary), daughters Channing (Felicity Jones) and Taylor (Chloë Grace Moretz) and her son Sammy (Dominic Sessa) and also irate they didn't nominate her for the Holiday Moms Contest run by her favorite TV show host Zazzy Tims (Eva Longoria), suburban mom Claire Clauster (Michelle Pfeiffer), without telling anyone, drives to Burbank from Houston to try and sneak onto Zazzy's set.  The point it makes early on, that most Christmas movies involve males (such as Elf, Home Alone, The Santa Clause, etc.), is completely accurate and worth correcting, but this sub-sitcom 'comedy' is simply pitiful - the director and co-screenwriter is a former member of the sketch comedy troupe The State (their mid-90's program on MTV is still under-appreciated), and yet he couldn't manage to scribble in a decent joke or two (unless you find stealing a gigantic candle from a shopping mall and chased down by security guards to be a chuckle-fest).  The soundtrack - which features Fiona Apple, Fleet Foxes, Modest Mouse, The Bird and the Bee, etc. - is quite hip and one of the only tolerable things about it ... and Sammy's new gal pal Havana Rose Liu is mysterious, alluring and exactly the kind of young woman you want to dance with on Christmas Eve (especially if you're newly single).
