Sisu: Road to Revenge (2025) review

Grizzled warrior Aatami Korpi (Jorma Tommila) returns to his abandoned home in the Karelia region - which was ceded to the Soviet Union in 1946 - and methodically takes it apart so he can transport it to his native Finland (along with his beloved pooch) and rebuild it, except the Soviets want him eliminated, so they release Igor Draganov (Stephen Lang) from prison in Siberia to track Korpi down.  It's basically the Dollar General version of Miller's Mad Max movies with its absence of meaningful dialogue (Korpi doesn't utter a single word) and totally ludicrous action sequences - flipping a tank with explosives, riding on a platform with an activated missile, Korpi 'hiding' a blade in his thigh, etc. - although it is kind of a playful exercise in sheer violence and a celebration of the durability of the human body.  You can also interpret it as a slap at Gen Z's perceived "softness": there are trucks spitting up dirt, deeply wrinkled brows, thick gray facial hair and ample gore ... you know, back when "our elders" embraced their "masculinity" (or whatever the empty-headed "manosphere" is rambling about nowadays).
