Now You See Me: Now You Don't (2025) review

Nobody asked for it, but here's the third piece of the Now You See Me "franchise": up-and-coming "illusionists" Bosco (Dominic Sessa), Charlie (Justice Smith) and June (Ariana Greenblatt) put on a show imitating the long-disbanded Horsemen, J. Daniel Atlas (Jesse Eisenberg) learns about the performance and recruits them to help him stop the money laundering being conducted by Veronika Vanderberg (Rosamund Pike) and swipe her priceless "Heart Diamond," and then the old crew of Merritt (Woody Harrelson), Jack (Dave Franco), Henley (Isla Fisher) and Lula (Lizzy Caplan) pop in.  Every complaint I had with the previous movies applies here - the dialogue is pathetic, CGI ruins the actual craft, etc. - and now there's the added bonus of watching which generation, the Millennials or Gen Z, can be the smarmiest (Woody, on the other hand, just wants booze and maybe a little dank).  It isn't satisfied with pulling off some huge heist, either - it also finds a way to bring systemic racism into the narrative.  They're probably going to crank out more of these, but I wish they didn't.
