Nobody 2
Director: Timo Tjahjanto
Year Released: 2025
Rating: 2.0
Feeling burned out from working as an assassin in order to pay off his debt from the original movie, Hutch Mansell (Bob Odenkirk) takes his unhappy wife Becca (Connie Nielsen), their kids Brady (Gage Munroe) and Sammy (Paisley Cadorath) and his father David (Christopher Lloyd) on a family vacation to Plummerville in Wisconsin (which reminds me of Wildwood in New Jersey) to "make memories" ... except it turns out the town is corrupt and run by criminal crackpot Lendina (Sharon Stone). This ninety-minute bit of punchy-kicky fluff was co-written by Derek Kolstad, so it seems like an even slighter version of John Wick where virtually every single character exists just to get into a fist-fight with Odenkirk, leading up to a gawdy final battle in a water park in which everything's shot to pieces or blown up. If cheap thrills and an enthusiastic cast - Colin Hanks is quickly turning into his old man, RZA appears with a katana, etc. - are your thing, there have been far worse Summer 2025 releases, but part of me suspects this might be something Bob and David Cross would have mocked mercilessly on Mr. Show back in the late 1990's.
