Lonely Are the Brave
Director: David Miller
Year Released: 1962
Rating: 2.0
Doesn't hold up to close inspection: cowboy Kirk Douglas starts fight after fight to land in jail and get his friend out (unlike the attempts in The Shawshank Redemption or Le Trou, this jail pretty much invites easy escapes), only his friend doesn't want to leave, leaving Douglas to chased after by the authorities and killed (sorry if I ruined it for you)! Wouldn't all this have been avoided had Douglas not bothered? And the third act chase-down with the feds in a helicopter is noticeably stretched out, leaving Kirk talking to the only interesting character in the movie: his horse.
