Former mob hitman-turned-suburban dad Tony Banks (Jackie Gleason) is instructed by his old boss "God" (Groucho Marx) to go to prison and knock off a stock broker named "Blue Chips" Packard (Mickey Rooney) - meanwhile, Banks' daughter Darlene (Alexandra Hay) is infatuated with deadbeat Stash (John Phillip Law) and his wife Flo (Carol Channing) becomes The Queen of the Hippies.  This attempted "satire" of the counter-culture in the late sixties is sorely lacking in genuine chuckles and the "plot" might as well have been scribbled on a handful of dirty napkins (supposedly, Rob Reiner was hired to "spruce it up" although the odds were definitely against him), but even as a failure it does function as a curious time capsule from the era: both Preminger and Groucho (in his final screen appearance) apparently took LSD prior to making it and neither had a "bad trip."  The movie sort of argues that experimenting with chemicals to "broaden your mind" and see the world from a different perspective isn't necessarily the worst thing you can try - I can think of multiple "powerful" individuals in 2025 that would benefit from a tab or three - and yet using too much is still not recommended: you could forget how to tie your shoes, man.
