On a Sunday in mid-October, beer league baseball players (consisting of mostly older fellows, although there are some younger guys) show up at Soldiers Field in Douglas, Massachusetts to play the last game at the park (it's going to be leveled and replaced by a school), with Franny (Cliff Blake) keeping score, but they run into problems once the umpire leaves, the sun goes down and they have to use their vehicles' headlights to try and see the ball.  Part of me admires this indie film for daring to go without any sort of "real plot" and just watch several middle-aged men hang around and banter with each other, except its appeal diminishes greatly before the 7th inning stretch, as it's clear Lund expects the audience to bear the entire weight of supplying "meaning" to it.  Since there's a soccer match underway nearby, is it about the downfall of "America's Pastime?"  Is it about males clinging desperately to their childhood by playing a sport they used to when they were kids?  And what is with those random drumbeats?  The title refers to a type of off-speed lob by a pitcher that former outfielder Maurice Van Robays referred to as a "nothing pitch" ... so maybe that's it.  It's chock full o' nuthin'.
