Cleaner

Director: Martin Campbell
Year Released: 2025
Rating: 0.5

Joanna Locke (Daisy Ridley), a former member of the British Army's Special Reconnaissance Regiment, is stuck working as the window cleaner of an unscrupulous energy company owned by the Milton Brothers (Lee Boardman and Rufus Jones), so when activist/terrorist group Earth Revolution - led by Marcus Blake (Clive Owen) - storm the building, she has to use her skills to stop them.  Not only is the premise itself flimsy - it relies on Joanna's autistic brother Michael (Matthew Tuck) for "emotional resonance" - but the visual effects are unimpressive as well, and it's not like Ridley is pulling a Tom Cruise by dangling off a super tall structure.  Owen must have had it in his contract that his character gets killed off as quickly as possible, allowing for Noah Santos (Taz Skylar) to "take over," except Noah is a chatterbox whose (presumably) meth-cooked brain is loaded with all sorts of anti-human "ideas."  Don't get me wrong, I'm strongly in favor of protecting the environment, but there are reasonable ways to go about protesting ... and no, that doesn't mean tossing soup on a Van Gogh, either.
