Borderline

Director: Jimmy Warden
Year Released: 2025
Rating: 0.0

Mentally-ill Paul Duerson (Ray Nicholson) appears at the luxurious home of megastar Sofia (Samara Weaving) believing they're meant to be together, gets into an altercation with her security guard Bell (Eric Dane), he stabs him and is then sent to a facility for treatment; six months later when Bell recovers from his ruptured spleen, Paul escapes the nuthouse and recruits J. H. (Patrick Cox) and Penny (Alba Baptista) to assist him in marrying Sofia.  In terms of basic story and character construction this is totally inept, with writer-director Warden (the husband of Weaving) mainly interested in all the wacky places he can place his camera, and it's supposed to be an "indie quirk fest" that relies on Nicholson and Baptista hamming it up.  I'm (still) not a psychiatrist, but it seems as if Paul has something more debilitating than borderline personality disorder, considering his brain can't tell human beings apart.  Also, why is this set in the 1990's?  Is it just so Paul can "fall in love" with Sofia's boyfriend Rhodes (Jimmie Fails) and then put him in a dress like Dennis Rodman?
