The Last Showgirl

Director: Gia Coppola
Year Released: 2024
Rating: 1.0

Shelly Gardner (Pamela Anderson), who's been a dancer for Le Razzle Dazzle in Las Vegas for decades (she's in her late fifties), is informed by producer Eddie (Dave Bautista) that they're closing the production down, so her and fellow showgirls Jodie (Kiernan Shipka) and Mary-Anne (Brenda Song) discuss their future, Shelly seeks guidance from her cocktail waitress friend Annette (Jamie Lee Curtis), attempts to reconnect with her daughter Hannah (Billie Lourd) and auditions for other acts ... with no success.  The "point" of the movie can be surmised in the first couple of minutes - older ladies get no respect, I tell ya - so all that's left to do is shoot close-ups of Anderson's aging face (without makeup) or her having her pose in front of Sin City's innumerous blinking bulbs, with Hannah making an appearance every so often to scold her mother for her lifestyle choices.  Some individuals have praised Anderson for her "bravery" in taking on the lead role, but her dramatic acting ability isn't exactly top-notch ... although she sure is tryin'.
