Kinda Pregnant
Director: Tyler Spindel
Year Released: 2025
Rating: 0.5
Distraught that her boyfriend Dave (Damon Wayans Jr.) doesn't want to marry her (instead, he suggests they have a threesome with another woman) and then learning her best friend (and co-worker) Kate (Jillian Bell) is expecting a child, middle school English teacher Lainy (Amy Schumer) steals an artificial baby bump and pretends she's pregnant, but after becoming pals with Megan (Brianne Howey) and starting a relationship with Zamboni driver Josh (Will Forte), she has to scramble to keep the ruse going. Coming up with ideas for new comedies cannot be easy nowadays considering the climate but surely stand-up comedienne Schumer, who co-wrote the "screenplay" with Julie Paiva, could have typed out something less inane: the physical humor (which includes flatulence and lots of falling) is downright embarrassing and almost every scene is ludicrous (any instructor that has a nervous breakdown in front of children and intentionally starts a fire would not be allowed to return). Depending on your mood, this might be supreme torture to sit through ... although Shirley (Lizze Broadway) is amusing as a flaky Gen Z teacher (who would have also been canned).
