Rabbit Test
Director: Joan Rivers
Year Released: 1978
Rating: 2.0
Comedienne Rivers' only directorial effort (she also co-wrote the script) involves night school instructor Lionel (Billy Crystal, in his screen debut) losing his virginity to a strange lady on a pinball machine and then finding out he's the one who's pregnant - initially, he's revered internationally, but then everyone turns on him ... but at least he has the emotional support of a student named Segoynia (Joan Prather). It looks like a crudely-made sitcom and the majority of the laughs are in the first half of the movie - before Joan runs out of good ideas - although a lot of the one-liners are smart and several of the side characters are a delight, most notably Paul Lynde as a physician and Doris Roberts as Lionel's mother. Since it's playfully "offensive" you couldn't dream of making it in 2025, especially with a vocal (and perpetually online) portion of the population being a little too fancy-free when it comes to the facts of biology....
