The Crow

Addicts Eric (Bill Skarsgård) and Shelly (FKA Twigs) meet in a co-ed rehab center, break themselves out and spend a lot of intimate time together before they're both killed by gunmen sent by sinister businessman Vincent Roeg (Danny Huston), who possesses demonic powers - Eric then awakens in purgatory where he's informed by spirit guide Kronos (Sami Bouajila) that he must return to Earth and avenge Shelly's murder in order to save her.  This reboot went through production hell for quite a while - with various actors and directors attached to it - and yet those years of "development" didn't produce a worthwhile product: the narrative is a jumble and it's missing any sort of creativity, relying mostly on moody lighting and hundreds of CGI crows cawing presumably to remind you of the name of the movie you're watching.  The gory Swordfight at the Opera in the third act does seem to temporarily wake it up from its Ambien-induced slumber (except not the dressed-up attendees, who apparently cannot hear machine gun blasts) ... and then it immediately resets itself back to mediocrity.  Mr. Skarsgård is a solid actor, but I'm not sure he's the ideal choice for the inked-up lead role, especially when compared to Brandon Lee in Alex Proyas' 1994 version.
