A Night in Casablanca
Director: Archie Mayo
Year Released: 1946
Rating: 2.5
The Marx Bros. films, now that I've seen almost every one, all pretty much follow the same formula, and some simply work out better than others (rating each film depends on the viewer's own idiosyncrasies). They all have their inspired moments, and this one does too, but despite those decent bits – the sequence with Groucho and the German mistress switching rooms had me grinning – it's only about average in the Marx Hierarchy, and the ending is a glaringly unfunny disappointment, considering the comic team's history of ending on a high note (like the football game in Horse Feathers or the war at the end of Duck Soup).
