In a Violent Nature

A bulked-up corpse known as Johnny (Ry Barrett) rises from his grave (presumably because his mother's locket was stolen), puts a Vajen Bader fire protection helmet on his already mangled head, and then proceeds to murder multiple pesky young people camping in the woods in Ontario ... and that's about it.  I must give it a smidge of credit for changing up the usual "horror script" approach by following the villain - imagine if the Friday the 13th movies just trailed Jason Voorhees and not the horny teenagers - but that does sort of negate the overall impact, since there's no one to properly identify with (a murderer with the mind of a child isn't a good person) and the "kills," while they might be a hit for gore hounds, are needlessly drawn out (did he need to chop off the Ranger's arm first? and did the other guy have to be bludgeoned over one-hundred times?).  Video games like Dark Souls and God of War (among many others) also keep the camera fixed behind the main character as the player goes around walking and hacking and slashing ... except the central figure being controlled is usually the "hero," and his/her mission is supposed to be admirable.  But hey, he sure showed that yoga girl how flexible she is, huh?
