Handling the Undead
Director: Thea Hvistendahl

Something odd is happening in Stockholm, and you might have a hard time figuring out what it is without reading the IMDb description: an older gentleman smokes a cigarette and appears distraught, Anna (Renate Reinsve) chops veggies, Flora (Inesa Dauksta) plays video games, David (Dr. Anders Danielsen Lie) visits a sick woman in the hospital, a child looks like he's decaying, etc. I don't mean to slam director Hvistendahl, who's mostly worked on short films, but this does absolutely nothing right (aside from the casting of Reinsve and Lie): she doesn't seem to have a grasp of the basics of storytelling, doesn't bother developing her characters in the slightest, fails to explain how they're related to each other and the scenes feel haphazardly stuck together. My guess is she wanted to make some sort of "elevated horror" movie ... except it's more likely to evoke groans than feelings of terror. For her next feature (if there is one), she should try handling the living first and making sure that works out.
