It's Cassie versus the "Catholic Church" (and you can guess who wins): inexperienced Sister Cecilia (Sydney Sweeney) is sent to a convent in Italy (even though she isn't fluent in the language) at the behest of Father Tedeschi (Álvaro Morte), finds the place is filled with mentally unwell nuns and creepy priests ... and then discovers she's pregnant, despite being "chaste."  The main "inspiration" for the rehashed script (by Andrew Lobel) is clearly Rosemary's Baby (with a few other horror movies thrown in there), and while I get it's attempting to make some point about abortion in a time when the Confederacy in America is trying to take away a woman's right to choose, this is not the proper vehicle to carry that message forward (there are plenty of jump scares, a fellow nun gets her tongue ripped out and so on).  I will admit the last act, albeit exceptionally dotty, at least embraces its B-movie premise: Sweeney does a lot of screaming, the (supposed) spike used on Jesus's palm becomes a murder weapon and a newborn is crushed with a rock.  My body, my choice, etc.
