Teenager Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) - from Jersey City! - discovers she can swap places with both superhero Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) and her friend (and astronaut) Monica (Teyonah Parris) because of a magical bangle she has on her arm, but the three of them have to work together to thwart Dar-Benn (Zawe Ashton), the leader of the Kree people, who is out for revenge against Danvers for ruining Hala, her home world.  This comic book movie, the 33rd in the MCU, does an absolutely terrible job not only with the setup but with its execution: I'm no super fan but I have seen a lot of them, and I wasn't entirely sure what was going on, but I know for certain Vellani's character with her "sapphic crush" is utterly annoying.  There's a brief moment of "inspiration" near the end in which individuals on a spaceship are instructed to stop running and allow themselves to be eaten by cat-like aliens called Flerkens, but that's where the creativity ends.  You'd think someone from the Mouse's HQ would ask to take a glance at the "screenplay" they're throwing $200 million dollars at, but apparently that didn't happen - the director blamed all sorts of factors on this losing money at the box office ... but it's not due to racism or sexism, it's simply not worth your time.
