Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget (2023) review

Molly (voiced by Bella Ramsey), a young chicken who lives with her overprotective parents Rocky (Zachary Levi) and Ginger (Thandiwe Newton), yearns for adventure and runs away but ends up trapped at Fun-Land Farms, an experimental processing facility that brainwashes poultry to make them tastier, and then needs to be rescued by her family and other members of their flock.  The stop-motion animation is solid and there's a sharp attention to detail, but the screenplay needed a major overhaul, since the characters blend together and it's simply not engaging (aside from appearing frantic at all times).  Peter Lord and Nick Park's original movie back in 2000 wasn't without its flaws, but it had a scrappy DIY attitude to it ... not to mention more than one decent joke.
