Reptile Leo (voiced by Adam Sandler) and turtle Squirtle (Bill Burr) are the class "pets" for pregnant 5th grade teacher Mrs. Salinas (Allison Strong) but she goes on maternity leave, crabby substitute Ms. Malkin (Cecily Strong) fills in and allows the children to take Leo home with them over the weekend where he reveals he can talk and starts giving them life advice.  This animated movie is mostly for the little ones with its simple moralizing and habit of breaking into song too often (blame TikTok), but it is a nice statement about how older generations have useful information to pass down, and considering Smigel (who's the creator of Triumph the Insult Comic Dog) is one of the directors and screenwriters, there are some solid sight gags in there, especially the drone that follows a boy with ridiculously cautious parents.  Anyone that's ever been around group of kindergarteners should get a kick out of the depiction of them as wide-eyed and spastic gremlins, and when I was still substituting in various elementary schools, I could have used a can of "Hug-Off."
