In Our Day
Director: Hong Sang-Soo
Year Released: 2023
Rating: 0.0
Even more half-cocked, presumably improvised tomfoolery from Hong, who's been cranking out movies at a significant rate. Allow me to recap what "takes place": Sang-Won (Kim Min-Hee) and Jang-Soo (Song Sun-Mi) talk about sleep, a large cat is fed and they get a visit from Ji-Soo (Park Miso) who's brought them soap and tea - elsewhere, famous poet Hong Ui-Ju (Ki Joo-Bong) is trying to abstain from drinking or using tobacco. Eventually the aforementioned cat goes missing ... but it is located relatively quickly. You're free to stretch your mind out and pretend any of this is meaningful in the slightest way, but I just can't bring myself to do that. I think the "moral," if you could call it that, is that poets should never deprive themselves of a nice shot of Johnny Walker Black and a smoke when the need arises.
