9 Lives of a Wet Pussy
Director: Abel Ferrara
Year Released: 1976
Rating: 1.0
Insatiable Pauline (Pauline LaMonde) mails letters to her lesbian friend Gypsy (Dominique Santos) detailing her various sexual encounters - from getting it on with a stable boy, a gas station attendant and even a Nigerian princess - and Gypsy proceeds to smoke opium and pleasure herself while reading them. Normally I don't review pornographic movies (since their main function is to titillate the audience) but I'm making an exception here because, whether he wants to admit it or not, this is the feature debut of internationally acclaimed filmmaker Abel Ferrara (using the pseudonym Jimmy Boy L.) and there aren't a lot of well-known directors who would cast themselves as a great grandpa in a weird and kinky scene where his two daughters give him too much wine and then have sex with him when he's unconscious (good on you, Mr. Ferrara!). Auteur theorists might point to a sequence where a young lady is raped in a stairwell at knifepoint as an early exploration of degeneracy and crime in New York ... but considering the number of shots devoted to it, it just shows he really and truly loves oral sex.
