In Water (2023) review

Those who have been following Hong's output should know the deal at this point: three people (an actress, an actor and a director) collect sea shells, share pizza, stand around, eat bread, go to the beach and babble on.  But here's the "gimmick" with this barely-there, presumably improvised "feature": all the scenes are intentionally out-of-focus (and the blurriness varies scene-by-scene).  Now, you can do one of two things: (a.) bend over backwards to try to defend it as some "deep, personal statement" from the auteur (which would require "adding" elements to the picture that are not supported by what's on screen) or (b.) dismiss it for being a jokey film school exercise.  My favorite line?  "Sandwiches are good."
