Dr. Elizabeth Derby (Heather Graham), a psychiatrist, finds herself locked up in a padded cell which is where she frantically explains to colleague (and good pal) Dr. Daniella Upton (Barbara Crampton) about how she was visited by Asa Waite (Judah Lewis), a troubled young man who claimed to be "possessed" by his father Ephraim (Bruce Davison) ... then Ephraim took over her body as well. This gives off straight-to-video vibes with the hyperactive camera movements and the overacting - plus, for being a "horror movie" (based on a short story by H. P. Lovecraft) there are entirely too many gratuitous softcore sex scenes. I'm not sure it makes sense on its own level - the "demon" is somehow "transferred" via a chant - but this isn't the kind of project you're supposed to actually try to examine closely. For the next time: more slashing and stabbing, less humping.
