Year Released: 2023
Rating: 1.0

Instead of taking a job as an elementary school teacher (which is a wise move), Anna (Jessie Buckley) goes to work for the Love Training Institute which "tests" couples (in a variety of ways) to see if they're truly enamored with each other - while there, she's partnered with Amir (Riz Ahmed), who develops feelings for her, even though she lives with her boyfriend Ryan (Jeremy Allen White).  The premise is decent (I suspect Charlie Kaufman was an influence) and asks a solid question - is there a guaranteed way to take the guesswork out of dating and romance? - but it's underdeveloped in every way, and the "experiments" that the (willing) participants have to go through are completely ridiculous, especially the yanking out of the fingernails (as well as the skydiving and "sniff test").  I suppose this is director Nikou's attempt to say that technology will never be able to decode the human heart (fickle as it apparently is), but it's also not fair to White's character, who seems to be a nice, faithful companion (if a tad distant).
