Director: Michael Haneke
Year Released: 2000
Rating: 2.5

Has not one but three hands-down brilliant moments: (a.) the opening scene with an altercation between two Parisian youths, (b.) a scene on the subway where a photographer takes pictures of people without their knowing it and (c.) another scene on the subway with Juliette Binoche being harassed by a group of young toughs - there are one or two other pretty good scenes, but that's the extent of it. Haneke's intent is to say something about the nature of violence, but I was never convinced that the fragments came together in any real fashion, forming a cohesive statement.
