Ballerina

Director: Lee Chung-Hyun
Year Released: 2023
Rating: 0.5

Permanently sad security guard Jang Ok-Ju (Jeon Jong-Seo) finds her friend Choi Min-Hee (Park Yu-Rim), who was a ballerina, dead in a bathtub and in her suicide note she asks for revenge against the person who hurt her, which leads Ok-Ju to freaky Choi (Park Yu-Rim), who has an extensive collection of incriminating videos, as well as his drug-manufacturing associates.  I figure that it's partially inspired by the John Wick franchise, but Ok-Ju simply isn't that compelling a character, and the movie - which is sometimes presented in a non-linear fashion - is more interested in set design, costumes, neon lights and camera angles than its actual "storyline," which is so thin you could pipe it on top of one of those designer cakes.  The #YesAllMen message is standard by now ... and that Lambo didn't deserve to get torched.
