No One Will Save You

Brynn (Kaitlyn Dever), who lives alone in her childhood home (her mother passed away) and whose 'best friend' Maude (Dari Lynn Griffin) is no longer around, gets attacked one night by aliens - she escapes and heads into town, but it seems they've implanted little tentacled creatures in the residents' throats.  It tries to be 'cutesy' by purposely omitting most of the back story and discarding dialogue (there are more conversations in silent films), but in doing so it prevents me from (a.) knowing much of anything about the main character or the situation at large and (b.) having a reason to be concerned with her survival.  Instead, it exclusively sticks to running and screaming (Ms. Dever is fantastic at shrieking) and annoyingly plays with whether or not it's a dream or reality (which is just lazy "screenwriting").  But hey, the extraterrestrials know how to vogue!  Strike a pose, there's nothing to it....
