The Out-Laws
Director: Tyler Spindel
Year Released: 2023
Rating: 1.0
Dorky bank manager Owen (Adam DeVine), who is eager to marry his yoga instructor fiancée Parker (Nina Dobrev), meets her elusive parents Billy (Pierce Brosnan) and Lilly (Ellen Barkin), but after his place of employment is robbed he suspects his future in-laws are actually notorious criminals. As a Happy Madison production, it's a lot of the same old material, like low-brow jokes, family issues, appearances by Adam Sandler's relatives (specifically his wife and daughter) and a sitcom-ish approach to comedy (except with a few naughty words sprinkled around). DeVine's overexuberant man-child routine gets tiresome almost immediately (which might make one wonder what Dobrev's character sees in him) ... but at least he's committed to her. For the record, when it comes to the Bonds my order of preference is #1 followed by #7 ... and then #6. Sorry P. B., Craig did it just a bit better.
