No, this has nothing to do with the writings of John Updike: physician Sarah (Sarah Snook) notices her daughter Mia (Lily LaTorre) behaving strangely - she wears a crudely-cut bunny mask, asks to see her grandmother Joan (Greta Scacchi) and insists her real name is "Alice," which apparently ties into some "deep" family secret. It's an annoyingly thin "psychological thriller" that plays coyly with a single point: who was this Alice person and what did Sarah have to do with her ... and everyone seems to get increasingly nuttier. I'm not a psychiatrist, but a lot of these movies about "trauma" want to transform it into this horror show where one character comes after another with scissors and there's plenty of outbursts, when in reality it's mostly quiet, debilitating and tragic. Also: screechy little kids are the worst, are they not?
