See How They Run
Director: Tom George
Year Released: 2022
Rating: 1.5
American director Leo Köpernick (Adrien Brody), in London to prepare a film adaptation of Agatha Christie's hit play The Mousetrap, gets killed by an unknown assailant, so Inspector Stoppard (Sam Rockwell) - along with his dutiful assistant Constable Stalker (Saoirse Ronan) - is assigned to question everyone involved, including producers Petula Spencer (Ruth Wilson) and John Woolf (Reece Shearsmith) as well as screenwriter Mervyn Cocker-Norris (David Oyelowo), among others. George, working off the script by Mark Chappell, tries making it this cutesy and imitative "Wes Anderson Makes a Detective Movie" - there are numerous split-screen shots, puns, bright colors, etc. - and it all leads up to its highly improbable (if not laughable) "grand reveal" at Ms. Christie's house (to mirror the events of the play itself). Despite the tackiness, the cast is superb: it's not like Brody and Ronan haven't done this type of thing before....
