Why Worry?
Director: Fred Newmeyer and Sam Taylor
Year Released: 1923
Rating: 3.0
Millionaire hypochondriac Harold Van Pelham (Harold Lloyd) sails to the (fictitious) island of Paradiso with his Nurse (Jobyna Ralston) in order to "restore his health" (which is just fine) but accidentally stumbles into "renegade" Jim Blake (James Mason ... no, not that one) who wants to start a revolution and topple the government. The partnering up of Lloyd's wussy Glasses character with the 7-foot tall Colosso (John Aasen) provides plenty of fun visual gags - first they struggle to cure the giant of an infected tooth, and then he turns him into a human wrecking crew, strapping a cannon onto his back to knock out banditos. For those who like a little "substance" with their slapstick, it could be read as commentary on American ignorance regarding international affairs when travelling: for the whole hour, Harold has no idea what's taking place on politically (and never figures it out) ... he thinks only of himself and his "bum ticker" (no, really ... it's all right).
